Can hard water cause hair loss?

I've noticed a lot more hair in the shower drain lately, and I'm starting to worry about my hair density. We have really hard water in our building; is it possible that this is causing my hair loss?

Hard water damages the hair texture, but actual hair loss from the roots is often linked to internal health. Make sure you are getting enough iron and zinc through your diet, like spinach and pumpkin seeds. No matter what water u use, inner nutrition is the main key for strong hair.

I’m already losing hair from staying up till 3 AM every night, and the Borewell water in my flat is just making it worse. It leaves a white crust on the bucket and makes my hair feel like broomsticks. Honestly, I’ve started using drinking water cans to wash my hair because who needs more stress?

Hard water does affect the hair outer layer, but remember that high blood sugar can also cause poor circulation to the scalp, leading to hair loss. Keep your HbA1c levels in check and eat a balanced diet. If you manage your health internally, the external water issues can be handled easily with basic filters.

Actually, hard water doesn't directly cause genetic hair loss, but the calcium and magnesium deposits cause hair breakage and scalp irritation. My dermatologist explained that these minerals block moisture from entering the hair shaft. They advised using a chelating shampoo to remove the mineral buildup safely.

Haan na, the water in our area is so hard, my hair feels like grass after every wash. It gets so dry that it just snaps from the middle while combing. I started using a water softening filter on my tap and it has really softened the water, ho na.
