Can h pylori cause weight gain?

I've been struggling with H. pylori for a while now, and despite trying to eat healthy, I've noticed some unexpected weight gain. Is there any chance that the H. pylori infection itself could be contributing to me putting on weight?

I went through this and felt so bloated all the time that I thought I was gaining massive weight. Actually, the infection itself usually causes weight loss, but the severe bloating and water retention can make you feel heavier than you are. Once the treatment ended, my stomach felt normal again.

Normally it does the opposite because of the constant burning feeling which ruins the joy of eating. But sometimes, people eat small meals frequently just to suppress the acid pain, which can lead to accidental extra calories! Get it checked so you can enjoy your food in peace.

I remember crying because my stomach looked so swollen and I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin. It wasn't real fat weight, just extreme gas and inflammation from the infection. Please be gentle with yourself, it gets better once the gut heals.

It mostly causes weight loss or bloating due to poor nutrient absorption. If your doctor allows, try light walks after meals to help with the heavy feeling and digestion. Avoid heavy workouts until your gut is fully healed.

In my fifty years, I have seen that stomach infections disturb everything. Usually H. pylori causes acidity and loss of appetite, which leads to weight loss. But don't worry, once you start treatment, your digestion settles back to normal.
