Can glucosamine sulphate cause weight gain?

I've been taking glucosamine sulphate for my knee pain for a few months. Lately, I've noticed some weight gain, and I'm wondering if this supplement could be causing it.

I was taking glucosamine for my knee pain for six months. I felt like I was bloating and gaining weight, but actually it was just some water retention. Once I stopped after my recovery, my weight went back to normal.

I totally get it, seeing the scale go up when you are trying to heal your joints is so frustrating. But don't worry, it is usually just temporary water weight and not actual fat. Speak to your doctor if you feel very uncomfortable.

It doesn't directly cause fat gain, but some people notice mild fluid retention or bloating, which registers as weight on the scale. Try to drink plenty of water and watch your salt intake while on it.

I always prefer turmeric milk and light stretching for joint pain over heavy supplements. Sometimes these pills cause stomach bloating which feels like weight gain. If you also have severe swelling or breathing issues, see a doctor immediately.

There is no strong clinical evidence linking glucosamine to actual weight gain. However, if you are experiencing sudden changes in weight, it is best to consult your orthopedist to rule out other factors or look for alternative joint supplements.

It generally doesn't cause weight gain. If you feel heavier, it might just be minor water bloating.
