Can ginger trigger asthma?

I have asthma and I'm very careful about what I consume as some things trigger my attacks. I was thinking of adding ginger to my diet for other health benefits, but I'm worried. Can ginger trigger an asthma attack?

Normally, ginger actually helps soothe airways, but for some sensitive people, the strong smell or taste can trigger a coughing fit. I once had a really concentrated ginger shot and it made me wheeze a bit. It is better to use it in very small quantities.

Although ginger is generally anti-inflammatory, severe allergies can happen and trigger a sudden asthma attack. If you experience any breathing difficulty, chest tightness, or wheezing after consuming ginger, please go to a doctor immediately.

Hey, don't stress too much about this. Ginger is usually super safe and even helps with chest congestion, but if you feel it is bothering your throat or making you cough, just stop having it. Everyone's body is different, you know?

I totally panicked when I sneezed right after drinking ginger tea, thinking I was getting an asthma attack! But my doctor reassured me that the strong spicy kick of ginger can just tickle your throat and nose, which is completely normal and not actual asthma.

It is extremely rare, but if you have a specific ginger allergy, it can potentially trigger an asthma flare-up.
