Can gastritis cause weight gain?

Since I got gastritis, I've had to change my diet drastically, mostly eating bland foods and less spicy options. I've noticed a slight weight gain since then. Is it possible that gastritis itself, or the dietary changes I've made, could be causing me to gain weight?

Gastritis itself doesn't cause weight gain, but because of the burning sensation, some people keep eating small meals or heavy carbs to coat the stomach, which leads to gain. I had to manage this carefully along with my blood pressure medications. Regular health checkups and a proper diet plan from a doctor are very important.

Actually, some people eat more frequently because food temporarily relieves the burning stomach acid, which can cause weight gain! 😅 It is a bit tricky to manage. Eating bland, small portions and consulting a doctor helps balance things out!

Yes, sometimes the dietary changes we make to avoid acid pain can lead to weight gain. Trying to eat simple, non-fatty food is helpful. Please speak with your doctor to find a diet that works for you.

Beta, when the stomach is weak with gastritis, digestion slows down, which can sometimes make the body bloated and heavy. Drinking warm fennel water can help soothe the digestion gently. But if your weight is changing a lot, please go and consult a doctor.

I ignored my stomach burning and kept eating high-calorie dairy and biscuits thinking they would soothe the acid, and ended up gaining weight and worsening my gastritis. Don't self-manage like I did. Go to a doctor and get a proper treatment plan.
