Can gas cause weight gain?

I'm on a weight loss journey, and sometimes I feel so bloated and gassy that my clothes feel tighter and I just feel heavier. I know it might be temporary, but can persistent gas actually contribute to overall weight gain over time, or just temporary bloat?

I totally get it, seeing the scale go up when you feel bloated is so frustrating! It is not actual fat gain, just temporary water weight and trapped gas making you look and feel heavier. Try to drink lots of water and eat light for a day.

I used to cry looking at the scale, thinking I was gaining weight despite dieting, but it was just severe bloating and gas. Understanding that it was just water retention saved my mental peace. Give your body some time to digest and heal.

Yes, gas and bloating can cause temporary fluid retention, making you weigh slightly more. Drinking warm water usually helps reduce the bloat.

I got so anxious when I saw a 1.5 kg jump on the scale today after a very gassy day. But I am trying to remind myself that it is physically impossible to gain that much fat overnight. If you're worried like me, let's try to drink warm water and walk it off.

Does anyone else's weight fluctuate by a kilo or two whenever they have severe bloating and gas? I feel so heavy and my pants get tight, and I'm really starting to wonder if this happens to everyone.
