Can fungal cause hair loss?

I've been dealing with an itchy scalp and noticed some patchy hair loss recently. A friend suggested it might be a fungal infection. Can a fungal condition on the scalp actually be a reason for hair loss?

I have been having a very itchy scalp with dry white flakes lately, and my hair is falling out from the roots. Is this what a fungal infection looks like? Can we cure it easily with normal shampoos?

Yes, fungal issues like dandruff or ringworm can block your hair follicles and cause shedding. Don't buy expensive serums; just get a basic ketoconazole shampoo from a local medical store. Wash your hair twice a week with it and keep your comb clean.

Oh absolutely, fungal infections on the scalp are super common during monsoon and they cause crazy hair fall. But don't stress too much, once you treat the fungus, your hair will grow back completely! Just avoid keeping your scalp damp.

Diabetic patients like me are highly prone to fungal infections due to high sugar levels, and yes, it causes hair fall. Keeping blood sugar in control is very important to prevent these infections. Please get your fasting sugar checked just to be safe.

Yes, fungal infections like tinea capitis can lead to localized hair loss. Please keep your scalp dry and avoid sharing towels. It is highly treatable, so don't worry.

I totally get it, seeing chunks of hair in the shower due to a scalp infection is incredibly scary. It happened to me last year during the rains. Trust me, with the right antifungal lotion, your scalp will heal and the hair fall will stop.
