Can food sensitivities cause weight gain?

My weight has been slowly increasing, and I often feel sluggish after meals. I've heard that even mild food sensitivities, which aren't full allergies, can impact metabolism. Can food sensitivities really contribute to weight gain?

Honestly, yes, it can. I was gaining random weight and feeling super heavy all the time, and it turned out to be dairy sensitivity. The constant gut irritation was making me hold onto water weight, not actual fat. Once I stopped eating cheese, the bloating stopped and I lost like 3 kgs of fluid in two weeks.

I manage high BP, so keeping my body's inflammation levels low is a priority for me. Food sensitivities can cause chronic low-grade inflammation in the gut, which often leads to water retention and apparent weight gain. It is highly advisable to get regular checkups and consult a doctor to identify any dietary triggers.

While food sensitivities don't directly cause fat accumulation, they can lead to gastrointestinal inflammation, dysbiosis, and subsequent fluid retention. This often presents as bloating and weight fluctuations on the scale. For a safe and accurate diagnosis, it is best to consult a registered dietitian or doctor rather than self-diagnosing.

I totally get how frustrating and exhausting this is. I used to cry seeing the scale go up even when I was barely eating anything, and I felt so guilty. Finding out it was just chronic inflammation and fluid from a food sensitivity was such a relief. Your struggle is very real, please be gentle with yourself.

Yes, when our digestive fire or 'Agni' is weak, certain foods are not digested properly, leading to toxin accumulation and swelling in the body. I found that eating simple satvik meals and practicing deep breathing helps soothe the gut. Listen to your body and avoid foods that make you feel heavy.

This is a very common topic of discussion here. Food sensitivities often cause gut irritation, which triggers your immune system and leads to localized swelling and water retention. Keep a simple food diary to note down what you eat and how your weight fluctuates, and talk to your healthcare provider about an elimination diet.

My son used to look very bloated and was gaining weight rapidly, which turned out to be a sensitivity to certain preservatives in packaged foods. Once we cleaned up his diet and consulted his pediatrician, his digestion improved and the puffiness went away. It is definitely worth getting your diet looked at by a professional.

I am experiencing constant bloating and sudden weight gain, and I suspect it might be due to some food sensitivity. Is there a specific blood test I can get done to find out what food is causing this? I am a bit confused about how to start checking for this.
