Can folic acid cause weight gain?

I started taking folic acid supplements as per my gynaecologist's recommendation. However, I feel like I've gained a bit of weight since then. Is it possible that folic acid can cause weight gain?

Honestly, I have been taking folic acid supplements for a couple of months now because of a deficiency, and I haven't noticed any weight gain at all. My doctor told me it doesn't have calories to make you gain fat. If you are gaining weight, it might be due to a better appetite after recovering from a deficiency, or something else entirely.

Hey, don't worry about gaining weight from folic acid. It's just a B-vitamin that helps your body make new cells, and it doesn't cause fat accumulation. Sometimes, when a deficiency is cured, your energy levels go up and your normal appetite returns. Keep eating clean, stay active, and you will be absolutely fine.

I completely understand how stressful it is when you are trying to manage your weight and feel like a supplement might disrupt it. I was so scared to take folic acid because of weight gain rumors, which made me really anxious. But once I spoke to my doctor and started taking it, I realized my weight stayed completely stable.

I can only share what happened in my case, but I didn't experience any weight changes when I was taking folic acid. My body actually felt much more energetic and less tired. It is always best to discuss any sudden weight concerns with your doctor to understand the actual cause.

I used to worry about this too when my doctor prescribed it, as I always try to manage things naturally first. Folic acid itself doesn't cause weight gain, but sometimes when your body finally gets the nutrients it needs, your metabolism improves and you might feel hungrier. Just focus on eating healthy home-cooked meals and don't worry too much.
