Can folate deficiency cause hair loss?

I've been noticing more hair fall than usual lately, and it's getting concerning. My doctor advised me to get some vitamin tests done. Can a folate deficiency actually be a reason for significant hair loss?

Yes, nutritional deficiencies like folate can certainly weaken the roots and cause hair fall. Along with eating folate-rich foods like green leafy vegetables, practicing gentle pranayama like Kapalbhati helps improve blood circulation to the scalp. Be gentle with your body and let it heal naturally.

I totally get it, waking up to see hair on your pillow is so stressful and heartbreaking. Folate deficiency is a very common but overlooked cause of hair loss. Please don't stress too much because once you correct the deficiency with the right food or supplements, your hair will grow back.

My teenage daughter was losing so much hair last year and we were very worried. When we did her blood tests, her folate and B12 levels were quite low. The doctor put her on a simple supplement and advised a better diet, and her hair fall slowly stopped within three months.

Well, if eating more delicious green leafy veggies and chana helps stop hair loss, sign me up! Folate deficiency is quite common if we only eat junk food. Try incorporating healthy dals, spinach, and citrus fruits into your meals, and definitely consult a doctor for a proper plan.

Whenever I face severe hair loss, I visit a dermatologist at a proper hospital instead of trying random remedies. They will usually run a blood test to check your folate, iron, and thyroid levels. Ask your doctor clearly about the exact dosage of supplements you might need based on your reports.

In our times, we ate a lot of green vegetables and lentils which kept our hair strong. Folate deficiency indeed weakens the roots, so you must eat healthy ghar ka khana. You can also apply a little lukewarm coconut oil mixed with curry leaves to soothe the scalp, but do consult a doctor for vitamin tablets.

I am experiencing really bad hair fall recently and someone suggested I might have a vitamin deficiency. Is folate the same as folic acid, or are they different things? Also, does anyone know how long it takes for hair to stop falling after starting supplements?

Haan yaar, folate ki kami se hair fall bilkul ho sakta hai na. Hamare baalo ko growth ke liye vitamins chahiye hote hain. Apni diet mein thoda palak, daal aur fruits badhao, aur ek baar doctor se milkar test karwa lo, sab problem solve ho jayegi.

I see this question a lot here, and yes, folate (vitamin B9) is crucial for healthy cell growth, including your hair follicles. A deficiency can definitely lead to thinning and shedding. It is best to get a complete blood count and vitamin profile done so you know exactly what your body is lacking.
