Can ferrous sulphate cause weight gain?

My doctor prescribed Ferrous Sulphate for my iron deficiency. I'm also trying to manage my weight, so I'm careful about everything I consume. Can taking these iron tablets cause weight gain?

Ferrous sulphate is just iron, which usually doesn't cause weight gain directly. However, it can cause bloating or constipation, which makes you feel heavier. Drinking warm water and doing light pranayama in the morning helped me ease that heavy feeling.

I had severe bloating and stomach issues when I took iron supplements, which actually made me look like I gained weight. If you're experiencing actual weight gain or severe discomfort, please consult your doctor. They might change your brand or dosage.

No, ferrous sulphate doesn't cause actual fat gain. It usually just causes temporary bloating or constipation which makes you feel heavy.

If only I could blame my weight gain on my iron pills! Honestly, ferrous sulphate might bloat your tummy a bit, but the extra kilos are probably just from our love for parathas. Talk to your doc if the bloating gets too annoying.

I take multiple supplements and medicines for my health, and iron never caused weight gain for me. Bloating is common, so make sure you stay active and eat fiber-rich food. Keep track of your blood parameters and discuss any unusual changes with your doctor.

Ferrous sulphate does not have any calorie content to cause fat accumulation, but gastrointestinal side effects like water retention and constipation are quite common. If you notice a significant weight change, it could be due to an underlying issue like thyroid changes. Please discuss this with your physician.
