Can estrogen replacement cause hair loss?

Since starting my estrogen replacement therapy, I've noticed my hair feels thinner and I'm losing more strands than usual. This is a bit worrying. Can estrogen replacement actually cause hair loss as a side effect?

Actually, when you start hormone therapy, your body takes time to adjust to the new levels, yaar. This temporary hormonal shift can sometimes trigger some initial hair shedding. Don't worry, talk to your doctor once and they will explain if it's just a temporary phase.

As if menopause wasn't giving me enough drama, starting replacement therapy made me feel like my hairbrush was collecting more hair than my head! It does happen when your body is adjusting to new hormone levels. Just keep your doctor in the loop so they can tweak the dose if needed.

I am quite new to learning about hormone therapies and their side effects. My mother is considering estrogen replacement soon, and we are a bit worried about this. Does the hair loss stop on its own after some time, or do you have to take other medicines for it?

Hey, I can understand how stressful this must be for you. Any kind of hormone replacement therapy can definitely cause temporary hair thinning as your system recalibrates. Try to focus on a protein-rich diet and keep your doctor updated on how much shedding you are noticing.

I completely understand the panic and emotional toll this takes, I used to cry seeing my hair fall out after starting my hormone treatment. It felt like a cruel trade-off. Please know your feelings are totally valid, but it does get better once the hormone levels stabilize in your body.

My aunt went through this recently when she started her hormone replacement. She was super stressed about losing her hair, but her doc told her it's just the initial shock to the hair follicles and it usually settles down. Pls check with your doctor before worrying too much!
