Can edema cause weight gain?

My legs and ankles have been swelling up quite a bit lately, especially by evening, and I've noticed an unexplained increase in my weight. Could this fluid retention, which my doc called edema, be the reason for me gaining weight?

Bro, yes, absolutely. When my ankles were swollen, I gained like 3 kgs in a week. It's just water weight, not actual fat. Once the swelling went down, my weight went back to normal.

Yes, edema can definitely make the scale go up! It is just fluid retention, so don't feel bad about the numbers. Try keeping your feet elevated and cut down on salt, it really helps! 😊

Oh absolutely, it is just fluid holding up in your body tissues. Don't stress too much about the weight scale right now. Just focus on resting your legs and drinking enough water to flush things out!

Honestly, yes. My mom had this swelling and she got so stressed seeing her weight increase. But the doctor told us it's just water trapping inside, not fat. It gets better once the swelling reduces.

Yes, water retention can easily show up as sudden weight gain. Reducing your daily sodium intake can help manage it.

I have dealt with this during my kidney recovery. You can easily gain a few kilos of fluid weight very quickly. My best advice is to monitor your daily salt intake and check with your doctor if the swelling doesn't go down in a couple of days.

Yes, the body sometimes holds onto excess water when it is out of balance, showing up as weight. Just stay positive, eat simple home-cooked meals, and take gentle care of your body. It will heal in its own time.

Yes, fluid retention can make you look and feel much heavier. With my PCOS, I often deal with water weight too. It's always best to be cautious and get a doctor to check if the swelling is sudden, just to rule out other things.

I noticed my weight jumped by 2 kgs in just two days when my feet started swelling up. Does anyone else get super anxious seeing sudden weight changes like this? It really freaks me out.

Yes, fluid accumulation can increase body weight quickly. As someone managing diabetes, I have to watch out for swelling in my feet. I make sure to avoid processed foods high in sodium and always keep my doctor updated.
