Can eczema show up later in life?

My skin has become really dry and itchy recently, especially on my hands and feet. I'm 60 years old now and never had skin problems before. Someone mentioned it could be eczema, but I thought that was mainly for children. Can this actually start later in life?

Yes, it can. I freaked out when I got these red patches on my hands at 32, as I thought eczema only happens to children. But my doctor reassured me that adult eczema is very common and easily controlled, so don't worry.

Absolutely. Adult-onset eczema is a proven medical fact. It is usually triggered by increased stress, environmental pollution, or sudden changes in your body's immune response. Just get a solid dermatologist routine and you'll be fine.

Our bodies change as we journey through life, and sometimes the skin reflects those internal shifts even in our older years. Stay positive, keep your mind calm, and nurse your skin with gentle care. This phase too shall pass.

Yes, late-onset eczema is very real. I developed it on my legs at 50. The key is to avoid hot showers entirely and apply moisturizer within three minutes of bathing. This simple habit keeps the flares completely under control.

It can definitely show up in your 40s or 50s. While I always recommend using pure virgin coconut oil to soothe the dryness naturally, please do see a skin doctor if you have severe redness or itching to get a proper diagnosis.

Yes, it can. I got it in my late 40s and ignored it, which led to a severe skin infection that required strong antibiotics. Please don't neglect any new skin issues in later life; see a dermatologist immediately.

Yes, life loves giving you new surprises as you grow older. First it was back pain, and now suddenly adult eczema at 30. It can definitely show up late, just buy a giant tub of moisturizer and accept the new normal.
