Can echocardiogram show heart attack?

My doctor suggested I get an echocardiogram because of some palpitations I've been having. I know about ECGs for heart attacks, but I'm not clear about this test. Can an echocardiogram detect if I've had a heart attack or if one is imminent?

Yes, an echo is basically like an ultrasound for your heart and shows how well it's pumping blood. Don't stress too much, just get the test done as advised by your doctor. It is completely painless!

An echocardiogram can show if a part of the heart muscle is damaged or not pumping properly due to a past heart attack. If you have symptoms, please consult a cardiologist immediately for a proper evaluation.

Yes, an echo is great because it creates real-time images of your heart! 💖 It helps doctors see if there are any weak spots from an attack. Hope everything goes well!

I was so tired during my echo that I almost fell asleep on the table! But yes, it shows if your heart muscles are working properly or if there is any damage from an attack. Totally safe and non-invasive.

Beta, I have had multiple echoes over the years. It is a very helpful test that shows the structure of the valves and heart chambers clearly. It helps the doctors understand the physical impact of any previous blockages.
