Can eating more protein cause weight gain?

I recently started including more protein in my diet, like protein shakes, as part of my fitness routine. While I feel stronger, the numbers on the scale seem to be going up. Is it possible that eating more protein can actually lead to weight gain?

I started eating extra paneer and protein shakes last month and noticed the scale went up by two kilos. I am feeling so anxious about this, has anyone else experienced sudden weight gain after increasing their protein? I hope it is just muscle weight.

Yes, absolutely. According to my daily food tracker, protein still has 4 calories per gram, so if you eat more protein than your daily calorie budget, you will gain weight. Track your total daily calories along with your protein intake to stay on track.

Yes, it can! If you eat extra protein but don't exercise, those calories will still add up. Just balance your meals and keep moving to stay fit and happy!

From what I have seen over the years, people get too obsessed with protein powders these days. If you eat heavy protein meals but lead a sitting life, you will put on weight. Keep your meals simple, traditional, and balanced.

Honestly, calories are calories, whether they come from a protein shake or a pizza! If you overeat protein and just lie on the couch like me, you are going to gain weight. Just eat in limit and don't overcomplicate it.
