Can diverticulosis cause weight gain?

My mother was recently diagnosed with diverticulosis. Since then, she has put on some weight, which is unusual for her. We are wondering if these two things could be related, or if it's something else happening.

I agree with the others, diverticulosis doesn't cause weight gain directly. But honestly, when the bloating and constipation start, it really makes u feel much heavier than you actually are.

I was actually reading about this yesterday because even I feel like my weight has gone up slightly since my diagnosis. But usually, diverticulosis itself shouldn't cause weight gain directly, na? Could it be because we stop eating high-fiber foods out of fear of pain, or does it happen to others too?

I totally get it, seeing the scale go up when you are already dealing with stomach pain is so frustrating. Honestly, diverticulosis might not directly put on fat, but the constant bloating and changes in diet can make you feel so heavy. Just take it easy on yourself.

Please don't worry too much about the weight right now. Focus on keeping your stomach clean and comfortable. Sometimes water retention and slow digestion make us feel heavy, but it gets better.

In my experience, diverticulosis causes sluggish digestion which leads to toxin buildup and severe bloating, making it feel like weight gain. Practicing light Vajrasana after meals and gentle Kapalbhati daily helped improve my bowel movements and reduced that heavy feeling.

Bro same here, I thought my belly was growing because of this. But my doctor said it's just severe bloating and gas making me look puffed up. Once the digestion is back on track, that heavy feeling goes away.
