Can diabetics soak their feet in warm water?

After a long day, I sometimes just want to soak my feet in warm water to relax. My daughter warns me to be very careful with my feet because of my diabetes. Is it safe for diabetics to soak their feet in warm water, or should I avoid it?

I go to a very reputed hospital for my diabetes management, and my doctor clearly told me that prolonged foot soaking is risky because it softens and weakens the skin. Please consult your own doctor before doing this.

In our home, we always soak our feet in warm water to relax. But my doctor advised against it for my diabetes, as nerve damage can prevent us from feeling if the water is too hot. I highly recommend checking with your doctor first.

I'm too tired to even think about prepping a foot soak, but honestly, my doc said it is a big no-no anyway. Apparently, soaking prune-dry diabetic feet is just asking for skin trouble. Better to just sleep instead!

As a nurse, I always tell patients to avoid soaking their feet. If you have neuropathy, you might not feel burns if the water is too warm, and wet skin is prone to cracking. A quick, gentle wash is much safer.

I have been helping people manage diabetes in this community for long. Soaking feet can cause skin maceration, making it easier for bacteria to enter. Just stick to washing with mild soap and drying them thoroughly.

Soaking feet might sound as relaxing as a warm cup of chai, but it is actually risky for diabetics. It can dry out the skin terribly. Better to enjoy some healthy diabetic-friendly snacks and let your feet rest on a footstool.
