Can dehydration cause weight gain?

I've been trying to lose weight, but it's been a struggle, and I often feel bloated. I also know I don't drink nearly enough water daily. My friend told me that not hydrating properly can actually make you gain weight. Is that true?

I was stressing so much last week because the scale showed 2 kg extra out of nowhere! Then I read that when you don't drink enough water, your body panics and holds onto every drop of fluid, causing water retention. Don't worry, just drink more water and the extra weight should drop.

Yes, dehydration slows down your metabolism and causes major water retention, which looks like weight gain on the scale. Keep up your hydration and try to get a 30-minute brisk walk daily to sweat out the excess water. Just ensure your doctor is okay with your workout routine.

When I noticed sudden weight gain and bloating, I went to Fortis to get it checked out. My doctor clearly explained that chronic dehydration causes the body to store water to prevent dehydration shock. Please consult your physician to get a proper diet and hydration plan.

Look, if you don't drink water, your body will store whatever little water it has, making you look bloated and heavier. Stop starving yourself or worrying about fake weight gain. Just drink 3 liters of plain water daily and let your body do its job.

I used to feel so bloated and heavy when I didn't drink enough water. My grandmother told me to drink lukewarm water with fennel seeds (saunf) or cucumber juice daily. It acts as a natural diuretic, flushes out stored water, and makes you feel much lighter.

Sitting at a desk all day makes us forget to drink water, leading to bloating and temporary weight gain due to water retention. I keep a large 1-liter bottle at my desk and make sure to finish three of them during my shift. It is the easiest way to keep your metabolism active.
