Can dandruff cause hair thinning?

I've always had thick hair, but lately, it feels like it's getting thinner, especially on top. I also have chronic dandruff. Is there a possibility that my dandruff could be causing my hair to thin out?

It definitely does if you leave it untreated for months. I don't have time for complex DIY masks, so I just got a doctor-prescribed lotion and it cleared up in three weeks. Don't waste time on random remedies.

Between my night shifts and bad sleep, my scalp is a total mess of flakes and thinning hair. Honestly, less sleep probably causes both, but who has the time to sleep 8 hours anyway?

I am also facing a lot of thinning recently and I have some flakes too. Does using oil on the hair make the dandruff worse or does it actually help soothe the scalp? I am really confused.

Excess sugar in the body can sometimes feed the yeast on your scalp, causing dandruff and then thinning. I noticed my scalp got much better once I controlled my diet and got my HbA1c in check.

Oh yes, it totally thins out the hair because of all that itching! But don't worry, once you treat the dandruff, your hair volume will slowly come back. Keep your scalp clean and happy! 😊

Please go see a dermatologist soon. I ignored my severe dandruff for a year thinking it was normal, and now my hair has thinned out so much that the scalp is visible. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Even I have been noticing my hair getting very thin from the front because of heavy dandruff. Does this happen to everyone? I am getting really scared of going bald at this rate.
