Can dandruff cause hair loss?

My scalp has been very flaky and itchy with dandruff for months now, and I've started seeing a significant amount of hair loss whenever I comb. My parlour wali Didi suggested it might be due to the dandruff. Can dandruff actually cause hair loss?

Yes absolutely, dandruff can really weaken the roots. I started using a mild anti-dandruff shampoo twice a week and my hair fall reduced quite a bit.

Honestly, dandruff can make the scalp very itchy and scratching leads to hair fall, but sometimes internal issues like PCOS or thyroid also cause both. Maybe keep an eye on your hormone levels too just to be safe, ya?

Don't let this stress you out, as stress itself makes hair loss and dandruff worse. Just take care of your scalp with natural washes, keep a positive mind, and let your body heal itself.

Dandruff makes the scalp weak and then hair starts falling during combing. Just do one thing, wash your hair regularly with a normal medicated shampoo from the chemist and don't let sweat build up on your scalp.

In my experience, when the blood flow to the head is poor, dandruff and hair loss both happen. Try practicing Kapalbhati and Sasangasana daily, it brings fresh blood to your hair roots and naturally improves scalp health.
