Can curcumin cause liver damage?

I've been taking curcumin supplements for their anti-inflammatory benefits, as suggested by an Ayurvedic practitioner. However, I recently read some online forum discussions where people mentioned curcumin causing liver damage. Should I be worried about this?

Wait, curcumin is just haldi extract right? I don't think normal haldi milk at home does any damage, but maybe taking those high-dose gym supplements daily could be risky. Don't take random pills without checking.

Using haldi in our daily cooking or having a pinch in milk is completely safe and healthy. But if you are taking heavy curcumin capsules and feel any nausea, fatigue, or dark urine, please stop them immediately and see a doctor to check your liver.

Humare gharon mein toh haldi sabse badi dawa hai, chot lagne par bhi peete hain. Par aajkal log market se capsule lakar zyada khane lage hain, woh nuksan kar sakti hai. Normal khane mein haldi khao, sab theek rahega.

Actually, curcumin in moderate amounts is a great antioxidant, but extremely high doses or bad quality supplements can sometimes overload the liver. Stick to normal dietary amounts. If you are taking concentrated curcumin supplements, always do liver function tests (LFT) occasionally.

I have been having raw turmeric and milk for the last forty years and my liver is perfectly fine at 71. These issues only happen when young people take chemical extracts instead of using natural home spices. Keep it simple and natural.

Actually yaar, my dad was taking these high potency curcumin tablets for joint pain and his doc told him to stop because it was affecting his liver enzymes slightly. Normal haldi in food is fine, but these tablets are too strong sometimes.

I track all my supplement dosages on my fitness app, and I only take 500mg of standardized curcumin extract with piperine. High doses above 1000mg can strain the liver over time. Best to keep track of your daily intake and run a blood test every six months.
