Can crohn's cause hair loss?

I've been diagnosed with Crohn's disease a couple of years ago, and I've been managing it with medication. Recently, I've noticed significant hair thinning, which is quite distressing. I want to know if Crohn's can actually cause hair loss.

Bro, my roommate has Crohn's and his hair was thinning like crazy during exams because of the flare-ups and gut issues. It’s super stressful to see so much hair in the shower. He started taking some supplements his doctor gave and it helped a bit.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Yes, Crohn's can cause hair fall due to stress or nutritional gaps. Please take care and don't lose hope, it usually gets better once the body heals.

As someone managing PCOS, I know how devastating hair loss is, and chronic issues like Crohn's can definitely trigger telogen effluvium due to poor nutrient absorption. I can't say for sure if that's exactly what's happening with you, but getting your vitamin levels checked with a doctor is a very safe first step.

Don't go trying random onion juices or viral hair oils you see online for this. Crohn's is a serious medical condition and hair loss from it is usually internal, not a scalp issue. Go speak to your gastroenterologist directly to see what your blood reports say.

I’ve had Crohn’s for six years and faced severe hair loss during my first major flare-up. The main culprit is malabsorption of zinc, iron, and B12 when your gut is inflamed. Focus on getting your inflammation down under a gastroenterologist's care, and ask them for a good multivitamin; the hair does grow back.

Wait, is this really common? I have been losing bunches of hair lately and my stomach has been acting up constantly too, now I'm scared. Has anyone else experienced this combo before getting diagnosed?

When the stomach is upset, the whole body suffers, including the hair roots. Along with your regular medicines, you can try drinking light coconut water daily to soothe the stomach heat. Gentle application of warm pure coconut oil on the scalp also helps soothe the nerves, but do not rub hard.

Haan na, stomach clean nahi hota toh hair fall toh badh hi jata hai. With Crohn's, the body doesn't get enough nutrition from food, so hair starts shedding. Please don't take stress, talk to your doctor and eat simple ghar ka khana.

Just recovered from a brutal 3-month Crohn's flare-up and yes, my hair was shedding like crazy. Once my doctor adjusted my medication and my gut inflammation went down, the hair fall stopped almost immediately. Hang in there, it gets better once your gut heals.

It is so exhausting dealing with gut issues and then seeing your hair fall out on top of it. I totally understand how you feel! When my gut was acting up, eating soft, easy-to-digest cooked foods really helped my body absorb nutrients better, which eventually helped my hair too.
