Can crestor cause liver damage?

My father has been taking Crestor for his cholesterol, and his recent liver function tests showed some abnormalities. He's worried it might be due to the medication. We want to know if Crestor can actually cause liver damage.

My mom was prescribed Crestor and she was very worried about liver side effects too. Her doctor explained that while it can raise liver enzymes slightly, actual damage is extremely rare. They just do a simple blood test every few months to keep an eye on it.

Statins like Crestor are processed by the liver, so keeping your diet very clean is important. Focus on eating high-fiber vegetarian meals and avoiding greasy foods to give your liver the best support while on medication.

I literally spend hours reading side effect booklets and panicked when I read about Crestor and liver enzymes. It turns out it's mostly a precaution and actual liver damage is very rare. Try not to stress too much, but getting a regular LFT done will definitely ease your mind!

I completely understand why you're feeling scared about this, as any mention of 'liver issues' can make anyone anxious. But please know that doctors routinely monitor liver enzymes for patients on Crestor, and severe problems are highly uncommon. You're doing the right thing by checking.

My doctor just started me on Crestor and I am really anxious about my liver health now. Did anyone else get a liver function test done before starting, and were your levels normal after a few months?

I totally get it, liver health is nothing to joke about and taking daily medications can make you feel uneasy. Crestor is generally safe, but having an open talk with your doctor about your fears can help you feel much more secure.

I once ignored my doctor's advice to get routine blood tests while on long-term meds and regretted it when my levels went off track. Please make sure you get your prescribed liver function tests done on time. It's the only way to be 100% sure.

Trust the medicine and keep a positive mind, as fear only weakens the body. While Crestor is very effective for the heart, just make sure to eat simple foods and get your routine checkups done with a peaceful heart.
