Can cpap cause weight gain?

A year ago, I started using a CPAP machine, and honestly, I've put on a few kilos since then. I haven't changed my diet much, and I'm quite active. I'm wondering if there's any link between using a CPAP machine and experiencing weight gain.

Haan na, actually some people do see weight gain initially with CPAP. Your body isn't burning crazy calories just trying to breathe during sleep anymore. It's a good sign that your sleep is finally deep.

I have been using CPAP for a decade. Initially, I gained a couple of kilos, but my doctor explained that as your body stops working so hard to breathe at night, your metabolism slows down to normal. It stabilizes soon.

Do not worry too much about the numbers on the scale. When your sleep improves, your body is finally resting and healing itself. Just focus on wholesome food and keeping your mind calm.

Yes, studies show some initial weight gain because your basal metabolic rate drops once sleep apnea is treated. You just need to adjust your daily calorie intake and squeeze in a 30-minute workout.

Yes, weight gain is a known side effect when you start CPAP because your sleep-time energy expenditure decreases.

It can cause some weight shifts, but make sure to get your thyroid levels checked too. Sometimes we blame the CPAP when it is actually a thyroid fluctuation. Regular blood tests are a must.

Yes, it can cause a slight increase in weight at the start. Please don't be discouraged, as the benefits of proper sleep and heart health from CPAP are far more important.

Bro, don't stress too much about the weight gain right now. Your body is finally getting proper oxygen at night, which is a massive win. The weight will balance out once your lifestyle adapts.
