Maine abhi kuch mahine pehle copper IUD lagwaya hai, aur tab se mera weight badhta ja raha hai. Kya copper IUD ki wajah se weight gain ho sakta hai?

My older sister got a copper IUD last year and she was super worried about putting on weight. But she didn't face any weight issues at all because it has zero hormones, unlike other options. I think bloating during periods can make it feel like weight gain sometimes.

I just had my copper IUD removed after three years. Honestly, I did feel very bloated and heavy in the beginning, which felt like weight gain. But it was mostly water retention and heavier periods, not actual fat, and my weight stabilized after a few months.

Since it is non-hormonal, the copper IUD shouldn't directly cause weight gain. But as someone with PCOS, I know how easily stress and inflammation can mess with our weight. It might be worth checking your hormone levels just to rule other things out.

Instead of assuming it's the IUD and getting it removed, which costs money, do some basic blood tests first. A simple thyroid profile and fasting sugar test at a local lab won't cost much and will tell you if there is an actual metabolic issue causing the weight gain.

My daughter went through this exact same worry after getting her copper IUD. She felt she was gaining weight, but her doctor explained it was just mild inflammation and bloating from heavier periods. We focused on a low-sodium diet for her and she felt much better soon.

Medically speaking, copper IUDs don't have hormones to trigger weight gain. If your doc says you are cleared for physical activity, try adding 30-40 minutes of brisk walking or light jogging to your routine. It really helps with the fluid retention and keeps your metabolism active.
