Can collagen peptides cause weight gain?

I've started adding collagen peptides to my diet, mainly for skin and gut health, thinking it's a good protein source. But lately, I feel like I'm gaining weight, even though I haven't changed much else. Can collagen peptides actually cause weight gain?

At this age, even looking at water seems to cause weight gain! But seriously, collagen is just protein, so it shouldn't make you fat unless you are mixing it into sweet milkshakes every day. Keep it simple.

I had a lot of bloating and digestive issues after starting collagen, which actually made me look and feel much heavier. Turns out it didn't suit my gut at all. If you are noticing sudden weight changes or discomfort, please consult your doctor.

I freaked out when my scale went up by 1 kg after starting collagen. But my gym trainer explained it was just temporary water retention in the muscles, not actual fat. It went back to normal in a week, so don't worry.

Honestly, I'm too tired from late-night baby duties to notice a few grams here and there. But I've been taking collagen in my morning coffee and haven't put on weight. If I do gain weight, I'll probably blame my lack of sleep and midnight snacks instead!

Collagen is super low in calories, usually just 30-40 calories per scoop. It won't cause weight gain unless your overall daily calorie intake is in a surplus. Just track your food and keep working out regularly.

With PCOS, my weight fluctuates so easily that I have to be extremely careful with supplements. Collagen peptides haven't caused weight gain for me, but since everyone's metabolic rate is different, it is best to check with your nutritionist first.

Unless your collagen powder tastes like double chocolate cake and you are mixing it with full cream, you are safe! It's just simple protein. No need to panic about gaining weight from it.

In my sixty years, I have seen many health trends come and go. Pure collagen is just a natural protein and won't cause weight gain if you lead an active life. Don't stress too much about these small things, just eat healthy.

I was worried about this too, so I started taking my collagen with plain warm water and a little lemon juice instead of milk. It keeps the digestion light and helps avoid any heavy feeling or bloating. Try this, it works well.

From a nutritional standpoint, collagen peptides are pure protein and don't contain fats or carbs. My general physician mentioned that unless your supplement has added sugars or chemical fillers, it cannot scientifically cause fat gain. Always check the ingredient list.

No, it doesn't. Collagen has almost zero fat and very low calories. If you are gaining weight, you need to look at your overall diet and daily activity levels instead of blaming a single scoop of collagen.

I totally get it, when we are trying to stay healthy, the last thing we want is unexpected weight gain from our supplements. Usually, collagen helps with fullness, but if you feel bloated, that might feel like weight gain. Give your body a little time to adjust.
