Can cold water stop vomiting?

My young son gets car sickness sometimes, and my mother suggested giving him sips of cold water to stop him from throwing up. I'm always looking for home remedies that actually work. Can cold water help stop vomiting?

Drinking cold water can sometimes soothe a burning throat, but it might also irritate a sensitive stomach and trigger more vomiting. It is always safest to get yourself checked by a doctor if you can't keep any liquids down. Please don't delay medical care.

I am feeling super nauseous right now and wondering if taking tiny sips of ice-cold water will actually help stop the vomiting? Or will it make my stomach hurt more? Has anyone tried this and did it work for you guys?

I agree that ice-cold water in tiny sips can sometimes dull the gag reflex. However, if the vomiting is severe, please consult a healthcare professional for proper treatment.

Haan na, thanda paani peene se thoda refreshed lagta hai, par ekdum se bada glass mat piyo. Try sucking on small ice chips or taking very tiny sips of cold water slowly. Agar fir bhi vomiting ho rahi ho, toh doc ko dikhana hi padega.

Gulping cold water will definitely make you vomit again because it shocks your stomach lining. The trick is to take extremely small, slow sips of cool water or diluted ORS every 15 minutes. If this doesn't help settle your stomach within a few hours, please see a doctor.

Dealing with chronic nausea can be really tricky, and from what I've experienced, sometimes very cold water can trigger stomach cramps. It might help some people, but it's not a guaranteed cure. If you are vomiting continuously, it is best to consult a doctor for proper care.
