Can cold water cause vomiting?

Sometimes after I gulp down a very cold drink really fast, I feel a bit queasy and like I might throw up. My friends always laugh and say I'm being dramatic. But can drinking very cold water actually cause vomiting?

Drinking heavy amounts of extremely cold water when your body is overheated can sometimes shock the stomach and cause mild spasms or vomiting. I have noticed my digestive system is more sensitive now, so I stick to clay-pot water. It is a good idea to check in with a doctor if this happens frequently.

Honestly, chugging ice-cold water on an empty stomach at 3 AM has definitely made me feel nauseous and gag once or twice. It just shocks the system when you're half-dead. Maybe slow down on the ice water and try room temperature to save your stomach.

I always visit my family doctor at Fortis whenever I have persistent vomiting, as it's better than guessing. Cold water shouldn't normally make you throw up unless there's an infection or severe acidity. Please ask your doctor clearly about this rather than trying self-treatment.

Drinking ice-cold water quickly can stimulate the vagus nerve or cause sudden gastric contractions, leading to nausea or vomiting in sensitive individuals. It is generally harmless, but if the vomiting is persistent, it could indicate an underlying gastrointestinal issue. A doctor's evaluation is highly recommended.

Haan yaar, kabhi kabhi bohot chilled paani peene se stomach contract ho jata hai aur ulti jaisa lagne lagta hai na. Garmion mein bahar se aate hi turant thanda paani mat piyo. Thoda normal paani lene ki habit dalo.

Yes, sometimes very cold water can upset a sensitive stomach and make you feel like vomiting. Try drinking lukewarm or room-temperature water instead. Please rest and take care of your health.

I used to ignore vomiting after cold drinks, thinking my stomach was just sensitive, but it turned out to be an underlying acid reflux issue that got worse. Please don't ignore it if you keep throwing up. Get a proper medical checkup to find the real cause.

My son used to gulp down ice water right after playing football and would immediately vomit. I stopped giving him fridge water and shifted to matka water, and the vomiting stopped completely. Try giving your body a few minutes to cool down before drinking water.
