Can clove damage liver?
I often use cloves in my cooking and sometimes even chew them for toothache, as it's a traditional remedy. I recently heard a rumour that cloves can be bad for the liver. Is it true that cloves can cause liver damage?

Normal food mein laung khane se kuch nahi hota. But if you start consuming too much clove oil or high-dose supplements, it can definitely harm your liver. Keep it simple and use it in limit.
Beta, hamare ghar mein toh laung ka use sadiyon se hota aa raha hai khane mein aur daanth dard mein. Par haan, har cheez ki ek seema hoti hai. Agar bahut zyada khaoge toh nuksan karega hi, isliye dhyan rakho.
Honestly, at this age, everything seems to have a side effect! But don't worry, a couple of cloves in your biryani won't damage your liver. Just don't go drinking bottlefuls of clove oil like it's a magic potion and you'll survive.
In all my years of cooking, I've seen cloves do wonders for digestion and sore throats. But modern clove supplements or pure oils can contain massive amounts of eugenol, which is tough on the liver. Always use whole spices in moderation and check with your GP before starting extracts.
I have high BP and keep a close eye on everything I consume, even natural things. While a clove in your food is fine, heavy doses of clove supplements might react with your body or strain your liver. Get your regular liver function tests done during your routine checkups.
I agree, normal cooking amounts are totally fine. Just stay away from swallowing concentrated clove oil directly as it is very toxic.
I once took too many herbal supplements thinking they were safe, and ended up with elevated liver enzymes. Clove oil is very strong and can damage liver cells if swallowed in large amounts. Please be extremely cautious and always talk to a doctor before trying concentrated remedies.
I totally get why you are worried, health anxiety can make us question everything we eat! Just to reassure you, having cloves in your food is completely harmless. Just avoid drinking the essential oil or taking heavy supplements, and you'll be absolutely fine.
At my age, I have seen people eat cloves for everything from cough to toothache without any issues. The secret is moderation. Don't fall for fancy modern extracts; the simple whole spices we use in our daily meals will never harm your liver.

Cloves in culinary amounts are perfectly safe and healthy. However, clove oil contains a compound called eugenol which, in large concentrated quantities, can be highly toxic to the liver. If you are taking clove extracts or supplements, please consult a doctor first.
I love natural remedies, but concentrated clove oil can actually be harmful to the liver if ingested. For minor toothache, pressing a single whole clove is fine, but for any major pain or issues, please see a dentist or doctor instead of self-treating with high doses.
Just stick to putting one or two cloves in your chai or subzi, that is the safest way. No need to buy expensive clove oil or capsules which can be too strong for the liver. Simple home kitchen habits are always the best and safest.
