Can clip in extensions cause hair loss?

I love using clip-in hair extensions for volume and length. I wear them quite often. But recently, I've noticed my natural hair seems to be breaking and thinning where the clips go. Can clip-in extensions actually cause hair loss?

Honestly, yes. My sister used these heavy clip-in extensions daily for college and her hair started thinning out right where the clips were. It pulls on the roots too much, so don't wear them daily.

Yes, they put mechanical stress on your hair follicles. Along with limiting their use, focus on a high-protein diet and scalp health to strengthen your roots from the inside out. External hacks won't protect weak hair.

Oh absolutely! If you wear heavy clips in the exact same spot every day, it causes traction alopecia. Try to take them off as soon as you get home and give your scalp a gentle massage to get the blood flowing again.

I completely understand how stressful it is to see your hair falling out after using extensions. It used to give me so much anxiety too. Yes, the weight of clip-ins can pull hair out, so try to take a break from them for your peace of mind.

These artificial hair products put unnecessary weight on your natural hair roots, causing them to fall. It is better to use natural warm coconut oil with a light massage to strengthen your scalp, and avoid these heavy clips.

Yes, they definitely cause hair loss due to constant tension. Try using lightweight halos instead of heavy clips to save your roots.

I was just reading a dermatology blog about this! Apparently, the constant pulling is a major cause of localized hair loss. It seems okay for occasional events, but daily wear is definitely a bad idea.
