Can chlorine water cause hair loss?

I recently moved to a new apartment, and the tap water here feels very chlorinated. My hair has started falling out quite a bit, and I'm wondering if the chlorine water might be responsible for this hair loss.

Look, chlorine water is full of harsh chemicals that strip the natural oils from your scalp, making hair brittle and prone to breaking. It doesn't cause root baldness, but it damages the strands. Use a swimming cap and wash your hair immediately after coming out.

Haan na, chlorine water toh hair quality kharab kar deta hai. Baal itne dry ho jaate hain ki comb karte hi tootne lagte hain. Swimming se pehle thoda coconut oil lagana shuru karo, kaafi protection milti hai.

Please be careful with heavily chlorinated pools. My scalp got extremely dry, inflamed, and I ended up with a severe infection that caused major hair thinning. If you see sudden clumps of hair falling, please consult a dermatologist instead of waiting.

My son's hair became like straw and started falling out when he joined swimming. We started making him wet his hair with clean tap water before entering the pool and then wearing a silicone cap. It really made a big difference, so try that.

I went through this and learned that pre-wetting your hair is key because wet hair absorbs less chlorinated water. After swimming, use a sodium thiosulfate shampoo to neutralize the chlorine. These simple tips saved my hair completely.

Yes, chlorine is very drying. Since I manage diabetes, my skin and scalp are already prone to dryness, so I avoid chlorinated water as much as possible. Keeping your blood sugar in check and moisturizing your scalp with natural oils helps prevent excess damage.
