Can chest xray show asthma?

I've been having breathing difficulties and my doctor suspects asthma. He ordered a chest X-ray. I was wondering, can a chest X-ray actually show if I have asthma?

An X-ray normally doesn't show asthma because it is a problem with the airways, not the lung bones or tissue. The doctor will probably ask for a spirometry or blowing test to check your lung capacity. It is a very simple and affordable test, so better get that done instead of wasting money on multiple X-rays.

When I was suffering from constant wheezing last winter, my doctor ordered a chest X-ray just to make sure my lungs were clear of congestion. But for the actual asthma diagnosis, she relied on my symptom history and a pulmonary function test. That was my experience with it.

Haan na, I also thought chest X-ray will show everything clearly, but actually it comes normal in most asthma patients. The doctor needs to check how you breathe using a small machine. Just consult a proper physician, tension mat lo, it is very manageable.

Beta, my grandson has had breathing issues since childhood. We got chest X-rays done, but they always came out normal because X-rays are mostly to rule out infections like pneumonia. Don't worry too much, go see a good chest specialist who will guide you with the right breathing tests.

Actually, yaar, X-rays are mostly to check if you have some other lung issue or infection mimicking asthma. For asthma, they do that spirometry test where you have to blow into a tube. Don't stress, just visit a pulmonologist and they will sort you out easily.
