Can charcoal stop vomiting?

I had a bad bout of food poisoning last year, and my mother-in-law suggested using charcoal powder to help. I'm wondering if plain charcoal can actually stop or reduce vomiting when you're feeling sick. Does it really work?

No beta, charcoal is not a remedy for vomiting and can be quite heavy on the stomach. In our times, we used to drink light coriander seed water or ginger juice for nausea. If you are throwing up repeatedly, please consult a proper doctor instead.

Activated charcoal is mostly used for absorbing toxins in specific poisoning cases, not for general vomiting. Taking it can actually disturb your digestive tract further. Stick to simple, light home food like warm rice starch water (kanji) and check with a physician.

Actually, charcoal won't stop vomiting, yaar. Don't go by random internet trends, it can make you feel more nauseous. Better to just take standard vomiting tablets after asking a doc, and keep sipping electoral.

I agree with others, please avoid charcoal for vomiting. It can cause severe constipation and won't help the nausea anyway.

I tried activated charcoal once during a bad bout of gastroenteritis thinking it would absorb the infection, but it just made me throw up more. Trust me, it doesn't work for vomiting. Go to a clinic, get a proper antiemetic injection or pill, and save yourself the trouble.
