Can bunions cause knee pain?

Bunions on my feet have been a source of discomfort for many years. Recently, I've also started experiencing persistent knee pain, especially after walking or standing for long periods. Could these two issues, bunions and knee pain, be related somehow?

It is so validating to hear someone ask this. I struggled with terrible knee pain for months and felt so crazy because everyone kept focusing only on my joints, ignoring my bunions. The emotional toll of not being able to walk comfortably is real, but yes, they are absolutely connected.

Yes, bunions alter how you walk, which throws off your body alignment and stresses your knees. While a healthy vegetarian diet rich in calcium and anti-inflammatory foods can help with overall joint health, it won't fix the structural issue. You should consult a specialist.

I had no idea this was a thing until my mom started complaining about both! Actually, because bunions change your foot posture, your knees have to work harder to balance, leading to pain. Definitely wear comfortable wide shoes to help ease the pressure.

I panicked thinking I had arthritis when my knee started hurting out of nowhere, but it turned out to be just my bunions shifting my weight. It is actually very common and easy to manage with proper shoes and physical therapy, so don't worry.

I literally just recovered from this exact issue! My doctor explained that my bunion was making me roll my foot inward, which twisted my knee with every step. I started using custom orthotic insoles and the knee pain is finally gone.

Do not rely on online forums or home remedies to fix knee pain caused by bunions. This is a biomechanical issue that requires a proper assessment by an orthopedist or podiatrist. They can recommend correct orthotics or treatment.

In my own experience, my knee pain actually started getting much better once I got my bunion treated. I used to limp slightly to avoid putting weight on my big toe, and that put a lot of strain on my left knee. Fixing the foot alignment made a huge difference.

I was researching this because my dad has bunions and recently started getting knee pain too. It turns out the kinetic chain is fully linked, so bad foot support directly impacts the knee joint. It's really interesting but definitely needs a doctor's checkup.

Yeah, it does. I had a bunion on my right foot, started walking weirdly to avoid pain, and ended up messing up my right knee too. Switched to wider sports shoes and did some foot exercises, helped a lot.

Yes, bunions can definitely cause knee pain because they change your natural walking alignment.

Managing PCOS makes me super careful about joint health and inflammation. From what I know, bunions can change your gait and strain your knees, but since joint issues can have multiple causes, a doctor's checkup is the safest option.

It actually does, yaar. When your big toe is bent like that, you can't walk properly and your knee takes all the pressure. Don't ignore it, get some good insoles or show a doc before it worsens.

Please get it checked soon. I ignored my foot pain and bunion for years, and now my knee cartilage is badly worn out from years of walking incorrectly. Don't wait until the damage is permanent, go to a doctor.

Since knee pain can also be due to other serious joint issues, it is always safest to get a proper diagnosis from an orthopedic doctor. Don't just assume it is only the bunion, get a clinical opinion.

Haan na, it actually changes your whole walking style, which puts extra load on the knees. Mere maushi ko bhi same problem ho raha tha. It's best to get comfortable footwear first or consult a doctor.
