Can bubbly water cause weight gain?

Trying to cut down on sugary drinks, I recently switched to sparkling water. My cousin, however, told me that even bubbly water can make you gain weight due to the carbonation. I'm wondering if there's any truth to this, or if I can continue drinking it without worry.

Nah bro, plain sparkling water has zero calories, so it won't make u gain weight. Just make sure you aren't drinking the flavored ones with hidden sugars. I drink it all the time during exams to stay fresh!

At my age, even looking at a gulab jamun feels like it adds two kilos, but thankfully plain bubbly water is safe! It is just water and carbon dioxide. Just watch out for the gas/bloating, otherwise your waistline is totally safe.

Honestly, I am too tired managing my baby to count calories, but plain sparkling water is my savior instead of sugary sodas. It has zero calories, so no weight gain. Just temporary bloating that makes you look pregnant for an hour, haha.

I keep a strict eye on everything I consume due to my diabetes. Plain carbonated water has no calories or sugar, so it doesn't cause weight gain or spike sugar. Just make sure the label says zero sugar and no artificial sweeteners.

No, it doesn't. Plain sparkling water is literally just water with bubbles—zero calories. If you are gaining weight, look at your overall diet and lifestyle, not your soda water. Just avoid the sweetened versions.
