Can blood test show prostate cancer?

My doctor suggested I get regular prostate check-ups now that I'm over 60. I was wondering, can a simple blood test show if there's any sign of prostate cancer?

Actually, there is a specific blood test called PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen), yaar. It doesn't confirm cancer directly, but high levels mean you need to get more checks done. Definitely worth getting it checked if you have any doubts.

I get my PSA blood test done every year now as part of my senior citizen health checkup. Once my levels went slightly high, but it turned out to be a minor infection and not cancer. Don't panic if the test is slightly high, just let the doctor guide you.

Yes indeed! The PSA blood test is a super helpful screening tool for prostate health. If you are over 50, it is highly recommended to include it in your annual health checks. Stay healthy and positive! 👍

Yes, doctors use the PSA blood test to screen for prostate issues. If your father or any elderly relative is facing difficulty while urinating, get this test done first and then consult a urologist with the report.

I have seen many family members go through this. While a PSA blood test is the first step, please remember that high PSA doesn't always mean cancer; it can also be a simple prostate enlargement. Always get the results reviewed by a qualified urologist.

Yes, the PSA test is quite common and costs around 800 to 1200 rupees in most standard labs. You can sometimes get it cheaper if you book a health package. It is a good starting point before going for expensive scans.
