Can blood pressure tablets cause hair loss?

I started taking blood pressure tablets about six months ago. Ever since then, my hair seems to be thinning quite a bit and I see more hair on my pillow. Could this be a side effect of the tablets?

I always apply warm amla oil to my scalp for hair fall, which helps a lot. But if your hair loss started right after starting blood pressure tablets, home tips might not be enough. Please check with your doctor to see if your prescription needs a small change.

Haan ji, mere padosi ko bhi yahi samasya hui thi jab unhone BP ki goli shuru ki thi. Unhone doctor saab ko dikhaya aur unki dawai badal di gayi, fir sab theek ho gaya. Aap bilkul chinta mat kijiye, ek baar doctor ko dikha lijiye.

Oh my god, even I am noticing so much hair fall after starting my new beta blockers! I was so worried and wondering if anyone else has gone through this. Did switching the brand help you guys, or did it stop on its own?

See, some BP medicines do cause temporary hair thinning, it is a known side effect. But don't make the mistake of stopping the pills on your own. Go to your cardiologist, show them your hair fall, and they will easily swap it with another medicine.

Certain categories of blood pressure drugs, particularly beta-blockers and ACE inhibitors, have been documented to cause temporary hair shedding. It is generally reversible once the medication is changed. It's highly recommended to consult your prescribing doctor for an alternative.
