Can birth control cause false positive pregnancy test?

I've been on birth control for ages, but my recent pregnancy test showed a faint positive line, which really shocked me. Is it possible for birth control to cause a false positive on a home pregnancy test?

Hey, relax. Birth control pills do not contain the hCG hormone, which is what pregnancy tests look for, so they won't cause a false positive. If you got a positive, it is best to consult your doctor for a proper checkup.

Actually I am a bit confused about this. Can the hormones in my daily pill make the test show two lines even if I'm not pregnant? Should I use a different brand?

Unless your birth control pills are secretly imported from some magical land, they won't cause a false positive! Better buy another kit from a different chemist to double-check.

Take a deep breath and don't panic. Go eat a nice plate of hot momos to calm your nerves, and then visit a gynaecologist tomorrow. They will do a simple blood test and tell you the exact truth.

Drink some warm water and try to sit quietly. But for something like a positive pregnancy test, no home remedy or online tip will help. You must see your gynecologist as soon as possible.

I totally get it, seeing a positive test when you are on birth control is incredibly shocking. But the pill itself doesn't cause this. Please book a doctor's appointment to understand what is happening.

I panicked so much when this happened to me once! It turned out I had just read the test card after 20 minutes, which showed an evaporation line. A fresh test and a doctor visit cleared it all up.

If you are stressed out, a quick jog or walk might help clear your mind. But medically speaking, the pill won't cause that positive result, so a proper hospital visit is your best next step.

Usually, birth control does not interfere with pregnancy tests. A false positive is very rare unless the test was read after the time limit, or there is a product fault. Please consult your doctor for a blood test.

With PCOS, our hormones are already all over the place, but even then, the pill shouldn't cause a false positive. I'd highly recommend getting an official blood test done to be absolutely sure.
