Can bacterial vaginosis cause weight gain?

Been struggling with BV on and off for a while now. Recently, I've also noticed I'm gaining weight, especially around my stomach, even though my diet hasn't changed much. Could these two things be related, yaani, can BV lead to weight gain?

Directly? No, BV does not cause weight gain. However, the stress of dealing with chronic infections can mess with your cortisol levels and eating habits, which might affect weight. Focus on treating the infection first and stop worrying about the scale.

I looked into this during a busy work week when I had BV. There is absolutely no scientific link between BV and weight gain. Don't waste time researching this online; just book a quick 10-minute telehealth consultation with a gynac to get your prescription.

Having curd/yogurt daily is great for maintaining vaginal pH and healthy gut bacteria, but it won't cure BV. There is no direct link between BV and weight gain, but you must consult a doctor to get proper antibiotics for the infection.

I tried apple cider vinegar baths and dietary changes, but none of them cured my BV or changed my weight. BV is localized to the vagina and doesn't cause weight gain. Please save yourself the trouble and see a gynecologist for a proper cure.

I was researching this because a friend was convinced her BV made her put on weight. From what I read, BV has no systemic effect on metabolism or fat storage. Could the bloating from pelvic discomfort just feel like weight gain to some?

BV is a localized bacterial infection and won't cause weight gain. If you are feeling heavy or bloated, it could be due to lack of movement or stress. Once you start your antibiotic treatment, try going for daily 30-minute walks to keep your energy up.

I understand how stressful it is when your body feels off and you start noticing changes like weight gain. It makes you feel so anxious and disconnected from your body. But please be assured, BV itself doesn't cause weight gain; get a checkup to put your mind at ease.
