Can b12 cause hair loss?

I started taking B12 supplements a few months ago because I felt very low on energy. But since then, my hair has started falling out quite a bit, and I'm really worried. Could there be a connection between taking B12 and hair loss?

Look, let's be practical. Taking B12 does not cause hair loss; in fact, your hair needs it to grow properly. If you are losing clumps of hair, check your stress levels, water quality, or other deficiencies like iron and thyroid instead of blaming the B12.

Dealing with hair fall is so stressful, I completely get it because of my PCOS journey. Usually, it is actually the deficiency of B12 that causes hair to fall out, not the vitamin itself. But sometimes starting a high-dose supplement can temporarily shift your body's balance, so it's best to track it slowly.

According to my health tracker logs, my hair shedding actually decreased once my B12 levels went up from 180 to 450. B12 is essential for red blood cell production which carries oxygen to your hair follicles. If you are experiencing hair loss, definitely log your daily protein intake as well.

It is highly unusual for Vitamin B12 to cause hair loss as it is water-soluble and support follicle health. However, if you are experiencing sudden or severe hair thinning, please get a complete blood count and thyroid profile done. It is always safer to let a professional doctor diagnose the real cause.

I totally get it, seeing your hair fall out can make anyone super anxious and upset. Honestly, B12 is usually great for hair health, but any sudden change in your body's vitamin levels can sometimes trigger temporary shedding. Please try not to stress too much, it usually settles down.

I panicked so much a few months ago when I started my B12 shots and saw my comb full of hair. But my doctor reassured me that it was just a temporary shedding phase as the new hair cycle was starting. Within two months, the shedding stopped and my hair actually feels much thicker now.

B12 is good for your health, but for hair, I always suggest massaging your scalp with warm coconut oil mixed with a few curry leaves. But remember, if your hair is falling out in large bald patches or you have skin rashes, skip the home remedies and consult a skin specialist immediately.

Actually, B12 deficiency is what usually causes hair loss, not the vitamin itself. Don't worry, taking it should help, not hurt.
