Can allergic reaction to food cause fever?

My son sometimes gets a fever after eating certain foods, and we suspect he might have a food allergy. Can an allergic reaction to food actually cause a fever in kids?

Typically, food allergies cause rashes, itching, or stomach issues, not a fever. If you have a fever, it's more likely food poisoning from bacteria. Don't waste time waiting, consult a doctor to get the right treatment so you can get back to work quickly.

Please don't ignore this. I once ignored a reaction and fever thinking it would pass, and it turned into a severe systemic infection that landed me in the hospital. If you have a fever after eating, go get checked by a medical professional immediately.

Actually, fever from a food allergy is very rare yaar. It's usually hives or vomiting. If you have a fever, it's probably a stomach infection or viral. Better to check with a doc instead of guessing.

No, a food allergy doesn't usually cause a fever. It is more likely food poisoning or an infection, so please see a doctor.

I completely understand how scary it is when your body reacts after eating and you start running a temperature. It can make your mind race with panic. Just try to breathe calmly, it is likely a common stomach bug rather than a dangerous allergy, but do get a doctor to check you for peace of mind.
