Can alcohol cause gum disease?

My dentist recently advised me to cut back on alcohol for better oral hygiene. I'm wondering how exactly it affects teeth and gums. Can alcohol contribute to or cause gum disease?

Honestly, alcohol dries out your mouth completely, and without saliva, bacteria have a massive party in there. I already sleep so little, and waking up with dry, bleeding gums is just the worst. Brush your teeth before crashing, especially after a night out!

I really feel your pain because I went through a phase where my gums were bleeding constantly, and it made me feel so self-conscious. Yes, regular alcohol use can severely dry your mouth and lead to infections. Please don't feel bad about it, just make an appointment with a dentist.

It can indeed affect your gums because alcohol weakens your body's immune response to oral bacteria. I deal with thyroid issues and have to get regular checkups anyway, so I always ask my doctor to look at my oral health too. It is best to get a dentist's opinion.

Oh God, I read about this online and started panicking that my teeth would fall out. Alcohol definitely causes dry mouth which leads to gum swelling and plaque. Don't panic like I did, but maybe get a dental cleaning done soon just to be absolutely safe.

Haan bhai, sharab peene se muh sookh jata hai aur masoodo me sujan aa sakti hai. Humare yahan log dhyaan nahi dete, par masoodo ki takleef badh sakti hai. Aap thoda sharab kam kijiye aur kisi acche doctor ko dikha lijiye, sab theek ho jayega.

Yes, frequent alcohol consumption is a known factor for gum problems because it alters the oral microbiome. Make it a habit to rinse your mouth thoroughly after drinking any beverage. A routine dental checkup once every six months will easily keep this under control.

Hey! Yes, alcohol reduces saliva which normally protects your teeth and gums. My cousin had the same issue and her dentist told her to drink lots of water between drinks. Try to cut back on alcohol and make sure you floss regularly, it really helps!
