Can adrenal fatigue cause weight gain?

A friend suggested that my constant fatigue and recent weight gain might be due to something called 'adrenal fatigue'. I'm not familiar with it. Can adrenal fatigue really cause weight gain?

Oh yes, high stress levels release a lot of cortisol, which makes your body hold onto fat, especially around the belly! Try to destress with some good music and sleep, it really makes a difference.

While 'adrenal fatigue' is not a strictly recognized medical term in standard endocrinology, chronic stress and high cortisol levels definitely slow down your metabolism. It is best to consult an endocrinologist to rule out actual adrenal disorders like Cushing's or Addison's.

My stress levels are so high that even looking at a salad makes me gain weight these days. This whole cortisol thing is very real, my body thinks we are in a war zone and stores everything as fat. Just try to laugh a bit and sleep more.

If you are feeling extremely fatigued, intense gym workouts might actually raise your cortisol levels even more. Try switching to light morning walks or slow yoga sessions instead to keep active without burning out your system.

I totally get it, trying to lose weight when you are constantly exhausted and stressed feels like an uphill battle. Your body is just exhausted from overproducing stress hormones, so please be gentle on yourself.
