Can activated charcoal cause vomiting?

I took some activated charcoal tablets for an upset stomach, hoping it would help, but instead, I started feeling nauseous and actually vomited. Is it possible that activated charcoal can cause vomiting in some people?

Yes, activated charcoal can definitely trigger vomiting, especially if it's consumed in large amounts or has a gritty texture. I track my supplement intake on my fitness app, and charcoal is known to cause mild nausea or gastrointestinal issues. Make sure to consult a professional before taking it.

While some people use activated charcoal for digestive issues, it can actually cause nausea and vomiting as a side effect. It is a powerful substance that can also interfere with your body's absorption of nutrients and medicines. It's always best to ask a doctor before trying such remedies.

I didn't know activated charcoal could make you vomit, I thought it was supposed to clean the stomach. Is it safe to take for basic gas issues, or does it always cause nausea? If anyone has taken it safely, please let me know.

I have PCOS so I am always very cautious about trying new wellness trends like charcoal drinks. I have heard from others that the chalky taste can immediately make you feel nauseous and throw up. Please be careful and check with a physician first.

Honestly, if you are busy with work, dealing with sudden vomiting from a self-prescribed charcoal remedy is the last thing you need. It is known to irritate the stomach lining for some people. Just stick to regular prescribed medicines from your doctor instead of experimenting.

Yes, it can definitely make you throw up because of that super chalky texture! 🤢 It’s really not for everyone. If you’re feeling nauseous, just take a break, sip some fresh lemon water, and let your stomach settle down.

Vomiting is a known side effect of activated charcoal, and it can also cause dehydration which is risky, especially if you have high BP like me. Managing your health requires a proper medical plan, not self-medication. Please consult your doctor before using such supplements.

I completely understand how awful and stressful it feels to throw up after trying a remedy that was supposed to help you. I had a terrible experience with a charcoal drink and it made me feel so sick and anxious. You are not alone in this, please rest and drink some water.

I felt incredibly nauseous and almost threw up the one time I tried a charcoal supplement. Did anyone else get severe stomach cramps along with the vomiting? I'm trying to figure out if this is a common reaction or if my body just rejected it completely.

Oh no, if you threw up after taking it, that sounds so scary! I always worry about how different supplements react in the stomach, and charcoal is quite heavy. Please don't take any more of it, and if the vomiting doesn't stop soon, definitely contact a doctor.
