Can acetaminophen cause liver damage?

My mother takes a lot of pain relievers, specifically paracetamol, for her chronic joint pain. I'm worried about the long-term effects on her health. Can acetaminophen cause liver damage if taken regularly?

It absolutely can, especially if taken in high doses or mixed with alcohol. It's always best to get your liver function checked if you have been taking pain relievers for a long time. Never exceed the recommended dose on the package for safety.

Yes, absolutely, and it is scary. I recently took too much Crocin (which has acetaminophen) during a severe flu without realizing the daily limit, and my liver enzymes shot up. Thankfully, my doctor caught it in time and I recovered, but please be very careful with the dosage.

Haan na, it can definitely damage the liver if you take too much of it. Many people don't know that common cold meds also contain it, leading to accidental overdose. Always check the ingredients and don't pop pills like candy, ho na.

Heavy chemical medicines can indeed put a lot of strain on our liver. I always try to manage mild pains with deep breathing and rest, but if you must take acetaminophen, keep the dose minimal. Our liver is very sensitive, so we must treat it gently.

As a medical professional, I can confirm that acetaminophen (paracetamol) is the leading cause of acute liver failure if taken above 4 grams a day. Always keep track of the total milligrams you take in 24 hours, and keep it away from alcohol completely.
