Can a stroke cause memory loss?

My father had a stroke last year, and we've noticed that his memory has not been the same since then. He often forgets recent events or struggles with names. Is it common for a stroke to cause memory loss, and can anything be done about it?

Yes, memory loss is a very common issue after a stroke, especially if the damage happened in parts of the brain like the temporal lobe or hippocampus. With therapy and cognitive exercises, many people do show gradual improvement over time.

According to the neurologist we consulted for my uncle, vascular dementia or post-stroke memory loss is quite common. The doctor explained that damage to the brain's blood vessels disrupts memory storage. They recommended occupational therapy to help manage daily routine tasks.

Yes, it definitely can! The brain needs time to heal and find new pathways to remember things. Keep doing small brain puzzles with them and stay super patient, keeping a positive vibe really helps them recover faster!

Haan ji, stroke ke baad aksar log cheezein bhoolne lagte hain. Hamare padosi ke babuji ke saath bhi aisa hua tha, woh raste bhool jaate the. Humein unpar gussa nahi karna chahiye aur bade hi pyaar se unki madad karni chahiye.

My father had severe memory issues and confusion after his stroke, and we missed a few signs of secondary complications early on. Please don't take memory lapses lightly. Get a complete checkup with their specialist to see if it's swelling or something else.
