Can a pregnancy test be wrong?

My period is late by almost two weeks now, and I've been feeling quite nauseous and tired, similar to my sister's early pregnancy symptoms. I took a home pregnancy test, and it came back negative. Is it possible for a pregnancy test result to be wrong, especially if I'm still having these symptoms?

Yes, home tests can definitely be wrong, especially if the kit is expired or if you didn't follow the instructions properly. Don't worry too much. If you are confused, the best way is to go to a clinic and get a beta-hCG blood test done.

Actually yes, it can be wrong sometimes yaar. If you test too early, you might get a false negative because the hormone level isn't high enough yet. Just wait a couple of days and test again to be sure.

Haan na, home kits are not 100% reliable all the time. Sometimes the strip is faulty or we check the result too late and an evaporation line appears. Better to consult your gynaecologist and get a proper blood check done, ho na.

I got a very faint line today and now I'm so confused and anxious. Is it a positive or can these cheap test kits just show a shadow? Did anyone else experience this and then it turned out to be negative?

With irregular periods like in PCOS, home tests can easily give confusing results because we don't know our exact ovulation date. It's always best to be cautious and consult a doctor for a blood test rather than relying solely on home strips.
