Can a pap smear diagnose pregnancy?

A routine pap smear was done recently, and my period is a bit late this month. I haven't taken a home pregnancy test yet. I was just curious if the pap smear itself would have shown if I was pregnant, or if it's completely unrelated to detecting pregnancy.

Haha, no way! A pap smear is looking for bad cells on your cervix, not a baby. For pregnancy, a simple 100-rupee urine kit from the pharmacy is your best friend.

Actually, it can't. A pap smear is just a screening test for cervical cancer. If you think you might be pregnant, definitely go for a home pregnancy test strip instead, it is super easy and accurate.

No, a pap smear cannot diagnose pregnancy. You need a urine test or a blood hCG test for that.

I used to get so confused about these tests! But don't worry, a pap smear has nothing to do with detecting pregnancy. It is just for cervical health. You can easily test for pregnancy at home using a kit.

Absolutely not. They are two totally different things. A pap smear checks for cell abnormalities, while pregnancy is detected through hormone levels in your urine or blood. Get a UPT done.
