Can a minor refuse mental health treatment in california?

My teenage daughter is going through a tough time with her mental health, and I'm exploring options for support. I read something online about minors and treatment consent in other countries. Generally speaking, in cases where a minor needs mental health treatment, do they have the right to refuse it?

I used to worry so much about these legal things when my cousin moved abroad. Actually, in California, minors above 12 have a lot of rights to consent or refuse outpatient therapy under certain conditions. It is quite normal and structured there, so don't stress too much.

This legal stuff is tricky, just like managing thyroid where you need constant expert guidance. In California, if a child is 12 or older, they have a say in their mental health counseling. It is best to consult a local family counselor there who knows the exact laws.

Laws in California actually give kids aged 12 and above some independence in deciding on outpatient mental health therapy. While they sort out those legalities, keeping up with basic things like daily walks and outdoor sports can really help keep the mind fresh and lower stress.

Hey, I read about this when my friend in California was going through a tough time. Over there, if you are 12 or older and mature enough, you can actually consent to or refuse outpatient mental health therapy yourself. But for major stuff like rehab or hospitalization, parents are usually involved.

Times have changed so much since our days, and overseas laws are very different. In California, youngsters of a certain age are given the right to voice their choice in therapy. It is always wise to sit down and talk lovingly with the child rather than forcing anything.

I was just reading up on US healthcare laws out of curiosity. In California, there is a law called Family Code 6924 which allows minors 12 and older to consent to outpatient mental health treatment if they are mature enough. So yes, they do have a significant say in refusing or accepting it.

Haan na, foreign laws are so different from ours. There, children above 12 years have their own rights to accept or refuse basic counseling. It is better to talk to a local legal aid or counselor in California to understand the exact rules.
